Earl McElwee was born December 19, 1932 in a little town near Braymer, Missouri, where he lived on his family’s modest farm, never once leaving his hometown until joining the Air Force on February 8, 1952. Watching the city limit sign pass by from his seat on the train out of town, instant homesickness set in. However, out of discomfort often comes great growth, and that’s exactly what God had in store for Mr. Earl.

‘Additional’ COVID-19 cases force ESHS to temporarily go all-virtual

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – High school classes are all-virtual through Nov. 30.

Principal Christen Everett stated in an email Thursday that going all-virtual was necessary because theExcelsior Springs School District had learned that day of confirmed COVID-19 cases at the school among“additional individuals.” Everett also stated that those who had tested positive had been at school Tuesday and extracurricular events Wednesday night.

RICHMOND – Clay County announced settlements in discrimination cases involving five top-tier employees who will leave county employment “on or before Dec. 31.”

“It is appropriate that the new commission will be able to start with a new staff and really turn the page for Clay County,” Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte said.
