The Excelsior Springs Police Department reported the following arrests handled recently by the department. Tuesday, February 20 At 3:42 a.m., Mary Erskin, 45, was arrested for outside warrant service.

Excelsior Springs officials are hoping an amendment to the city code will help prevent overcrowding by short-term rental (STR) properties. As approved 4-1 Monday by the city council during a regular session at the Hall of Waters, the adjustment to Section 400.240 of the code requires a 1,000foot distance between most STR properties.

Dari-B marks 70 years in business

One of Excelsior Springs’ most memorable and long-standing hometown institutions is celebrating its 70th anniversary. Dari-B opened for the season on March 1 and as always, the crowd was substantial.

The only time that one can safely look at the Sun, without eye protection, is during a total eclipse of the Sun, and then only when the Moon completely blocks the Sun, called totality. Totality lasts only a few moments to a few minutes. Once the Moon begins to move from the face of the Sun, viewers must use protection again.
