Community for All Ages designed to help seniors

Neighborhood Specialist Laura Mize presented an update for the Community For All Ages Program during a recent Excelsior Springs City Council meeting. “KC Communities for All Ages is an age-friendly initiative that helps increase awareness in local jurisdictions of the impact of a growing older population,” according to the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC).

An Excelsior Springs four-year letterwinner is heading to college to continue her softball career and education. Bailey Carder recently confirmed she’ll attend Kansas City, Kan., Community College (KCKCC), where she’ll pitch for the Blue Devils, who play in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and are affiliated with the National Junior College Athletic Association.

ESFD provides mutual aid

The Excelsior Springs Fire Department (ESFD) responded to a request for mutual aid on a recent structure fire near Iris Avenue, in the Wood Heights Fire Department (WHFD) district. “We were dispatched for manpower on a detached garage fire,” said ESFD Assistant Chief Cameron White.
