The Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is asking for the public’s assistance in finding a second suspect connected to a series of package thefts that occurred in the Northland during the Thanksgiving holiday and the subsequent weekend.

SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS and highschool cheerleaders were on hand for the ribbon cutting at Lewis Elementary, marking the opening of the school. “The Excelsior Springs School District (ESSD) has completed construction of Lewis Elementary and Cornerstone Elementary without raising the tax rate to do so,” said ESSD Superintendent Jaret Tomlinson.

Local volunteers are celebrating the successful collection of shoeboxes filled with gifts which will bring joy to children around the world. Excelsior Springs residents, along with thousands of volunteers, have joined Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, by packing shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and personal care items.

The grace period for ticketing those guilty of distracted driving will come to an end on Jan. 1.

An Excelsior Springs High School senior has taken his golf game to the national level. That young man is Landon Biermann, who played at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour 16-18 National Championships.
