MIRANDA JAMISON The Excelsior Springs Council has awarded its new residential solid waste collection and disposal contract to Red Gate Disposal. The company was selected over three other bidders after a detailed review of prices, references and service capabilities.

A recent presentation examined how alcohol products are priced, promoted and sold in the Smithville area, revealing some alcoholic beverages can be cheaper than a bottle of Coke and are often packaged in ways that could appeal to youth. MIRANDA JAMISON Two bond violation reports have been filed on an Excelsior Springs woman who is facing nine felony sex abuse charges for allegedly insufficiently checking in with the court-ordered monitoring program. The violations came after she posted a $20,000 cash-only bond following her arrest on a failure to abide warrant for allegedly failing a court-ordered drug test while awaiting trial.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man found in a body of water on Aug. 6 as 32-yearold of Kansas City, Kan.
