Anita was born on March 3, 1939, to Edgar and Anna Mae McGinnis.

Joanne “Jan” Jackson, 95, of Richmond died Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Oakridge Assisted Living in Richmond.

Jan was born on Dec. 17, 1925, in Richmond, the daughter of Newton Paul and Nina (Clark) Hamacher.  She was united in marriage to James Donald “Don” Jackson of Richmond on Sept. 5, 1948. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2009.

Robert “Bob” Ballinger

Robert “Bob” Ballinger, 84, of Excelsior Springs passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at home following a battle for three years and eight months with multiple myeloma cancer.

Bob was born on June 29, 1936, in Mill Grove, the son of Robert Carl Ballinger and Loraine Lowe Emke.

He was married to Barbara Patterson Ballinger on Nov. 24, 1957.

Katie A. Shrout, 70, of rural Rayville passed away on Monday morning, May 17, 2021 at her home.

Katie was born on Nov. 27, 1950, in Kansas City to Eugene Chester Brown and Golda Mae (Green) Brown.  On Feb. 23, 1966, Katie was united in marriage to Bobby Shrout in a ceremony performed in Avondale.   

In 1988, Bob and Katie moved to the Rayville area, where they enjoyed their small acreage and country living.

Donna Marie (Busick) Crouse, age 67, a resident of Excelsior Springs, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospice House. Donna was born the daughter of Raymond and Laura (Corum) Busick, Sept.

Gatsby Day, not “Gatsby Days” this time around, brought out music lovers to downtown Excelsior Springs a couple of weeks back. The Mushroom Festival did the same thing for three days in downtown Richmond.
