CLAY COUNTY – Two Clay County officeholders have resigned their offices.
The collector and public administrator will be gone by Sept. 1.
Public Administrator Sarah Mills resigned effective at the end of August.
Under the Clay County Constitution voters approved in November, the county’s judges will advise County Administrator Tom Salisbury regarding who they would like to see appointed to replace Mills, Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte said Wednesday.
Robert (Bob) E. Mahoney, 77, took the checkered flag peacefully at home on July 19, 2021. Cause of death may have been from when his liver went into shock from lack of beer and cigarettes he had to give up the last months of his life. A visitation will be held 12-2pm, Thursday, July 22 with service following at Union Baptist Church, Orrick, MO. with burial at Moore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Glenn W. Clevenger Sr., 81, Excelsior Springs, MO. passed away peacefully at his home July 18, 2021 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held 10-11am, Wednesday, July 21, 2021 with service following at North New Garden Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs with burial at North New Garden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the church.
Olen Eugene Griffel, born September 30, 1925, formerly of Higginsville and Excelsior Springs, died July 16, 2021, at the age of 95, in Braymer, MO. He will be buried in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family at www.kaiserwiegersfuneralhome.com
Born Feb 15, 1937, died July 17th, 2021. Larry was born in Coffeyville, Kansas. He retired from the air force after serving 22 years. He leaves his wife, Mary Joyce Owens; son, Randy Dean Owens; two grandchildren, Dominique Moon and her son, Anakin, and Brandon Owen, his wife, Angie, and daughter, Nova. Freddie Junior Vanderpool passed away July 13, 2021, at his home.
Freddie was born December 17,1942, in Liberty, MO to Fred and Marie
(Woods) Vanderpool. Freddie was raised in Excelsior Springs, graduating from Excelsior
Springs High School in 1960. He served in the US Army National Guard from 1964 – 1973 as a dog handler at NIKE bases in Lawson, MO and Franklin Lakes, NJ.
