EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The City Council moved toward updating building codes. The council approved the initial reading of an ordinance to accept four inter national codes – electrical, gas, mechanical and plumbing.

KANSAS CITY – The Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration increased the range of civil penalties that may be imposed on individuals who violate the federal mask mandate for transportation.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Mid-Continent Public Library’s biannual Food for Fines program is back. Food for Fines will run from Oct.

ST. LOUIS – Three years after Missourians agreed to change the Constitution to allow the use and sale of medical cannabis, a new campaign aims to give voters the opportunity to legalize marijuana for adult recreational use in 2022.

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, or DHSS, reported 84,597,200 meals have been served through the Bureau Community Food and Nutrition Services, or CFNA, during the COVID-19 Response.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Creating memories and living out dreams through playing sports drive many high school athletes. Excelsior Springs senior Ethan Edwards is one such athlete.

OAK GROVE – Excelsior Springs is back in the winning column in varsity volleyball. With a 3-1 win Tuesday night at Oak Grove, the ladies snapped a six-match winless streak.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The varsity girls tennis team has been on the courts often the past few weeks. Excelsior Springs’ schedule has included conference play, tournament action and individual district play.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers’ 10-game losing streak in varsity softball ended in dramatic fashion last week. With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning against Notre Dame de Sion, junior catcher Daelyn Williams bounced a two-out, bases-loaded single off the fence to drive in the winning run of the Sept.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The roars from Tiger Stadium will likely be louder than usual Friday night. One reason is because it is homecoming week.
