Gregory defends health care partnership bill

Senate Bill 1602 is intended to provide MU Health Care with the benefit of a legal doctrine known as “state action immunity.” This doctrine would reduce antitrust uncertainty and allow MU Health Care to more quickly collaborate with health care providers within its 25-county service area. The goal is to create flexibility so partnerships can move forward in a timely manner to stabilize services and preserve long-term access to local care for Missouri communities.

ES girls thump Cameron to open tourney

For the Excelsior Springs varsity girls soccer squad, the final score of a game is less important than the team’s performance during it, according to coach Brett McKenzie. The girls performed well the morning of April 11, when they pasted Cameron 8-0 at Tiger Stadium to open the Excelsior Springs Tournament, McKenzie opined.

Reports of large financial losses and more advanced scams are increasing in the area, leading local officials to prioritize prevention and community awareness. As part of that effort, local residents will have an opportunity to learn ways to recognize and prevent scams during a presentation hosted by the Excelsior Springs Police Department in partnership with the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.

Interference with first responders now punishable locally

Interfering with first responders in Excelsior Springs after being told to keep back may now result in municipal charges under a new city ordinance. The Excelsior Springs City Council approved the ordinance during a recent meeting, creating a local offense for interfering with first responders.
