Plans to enhance senior meal program progressing

The City of Excelsior Springs has received approval from Meals on Wheels America (MOWA) to allow for plans to introduce a daily visit service along with meal delivery.Currently, the City of Excelsior Springs and Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation and Community Center (ESPRCC) have teamed up with the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) to offer meal services at the Community Center for seniors. In addition to the on-site meals, they also provide frozen meals for seniors who are unable to visit the center, with a tenpack delivered every two weeks.“The daily visit is vital for this demographic,” said ESPRCC Director Nate Williams.“The current setup is that qualified recipients from MARC receive two weeks of frozen meals at a time. This could be their only interaction during this period of time unless they have therapy visits or anything else to their home.
