Dolores was born Nov. 8, 1934, and raised in Excelsior Springs.
She married her sweetheart, James E. (Jim) Roberts, on Sept. 29, 1950. They spent two years living in Texas and Kansas while Jim was in the U.S. Air Force.
They settled on the family farm south of Lawson, where they built their own house with the help of Earl, Dolores’ father. After a period of time, they welcomed two daughters into their home, Wanda and Rinda. They lived there for 42 years before moving to Liberty. Dolores and Jim spent 67 years together before Jim’s passing in 2018.
Dolores was passionate about oil painting and taught lessons for 25 years after retiring from the 7-Up Bottling Co. in North Kansas City. She gave lessons well into her 80s. She also enjoyed working on the house and even helped her son-in-law Doug with his rental houses by painting, caulking or spackling.
After Jim died, she moved to Illinois to be closer to her family. In 2020, the family moved to Wisconsin and Dolores followed.
Dolores was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
