William “Bill” J. Dixon Jr., 89, of Wilmington, Del., passed away peacefully Feb. 18, 2024.
Bill was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Missouri.
He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in engineering. Working for 43 years, he did several jobs, including building a wind tunnel, working on streetcars and overseeing a computer division.

Bill will be fondly remembered for many things – an avid runner; a love of dancing; road trips with family; yellow suspenders; Apple products; a love of jazz, swing and blues music; watching sports with his kids; and a love of animals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Kelly Dixon; parents, William and Alma Dixon; and brother, Robert (Bob) Dixon.
He is survived by his three children (with first wife JeRue Dixon), Mark Dixon, John Dixon (Joni) and Jill Dixon; two grandchildren, Ian (Lindsay) and their two children, Claire and Ryan, and Amanda Wright (Nick); and “adopted” daughter, Julie Martin and her husband Rick (his friend and landscaper for 28 years).
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home; 3924 Concord Pike; Wilmington, Del. Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m., with the service following at 11. Interment will follow at Lawn Croft Cemetery & Mausoleum.
