Carr gets 100th career victory in regular-season finale

The afternoon of Feb. 7, Gaige Carr did something he’ll probably remember for years or decades after he graduates this spring from Excelsior Springs: He won his 100th career high school boys wrestling match.Carr reached the milestone during his second match of the Richmond Invitational. In doing so, he helped the Excelsior Springs boys place third in the team standings with 131.5 points.“That was the best wrestling I’ve had in a hot minute,” Carr said. “Just got done being sick, so it’s been a refresher being able to come back and get back to wrestling like I normally wrestle.”Carr’s achievement is “special” and reflects his work ethic, according to Excelsior Springs boys coach Cody Beck.“That’s something that’s earned, not given,” Beck said.Others who were happy to see Carr join the 100-win club included senior teammate Cooper Collins.“I think it’s great,” ...
