ES looks ‘to make some noise’ at tourney

Excelsior Springs is eager “to make some noise” this week in the boys portion of the Lawson Invitational Tournament, coach Ian Burch said.“Excited for the opportunity to shake up the bracket,” Burch said Jan. 9.The Tigers opened the varsity basketball competition by falling to West Platte 4840 Monday. The defeat in the Barker Center sent them to the consolation semifinals, scheduled for Wednesday. Their opponent was pending the result of Tuesday’s meeting between Odessa and Penney of Hamilton.The tournament opener followed three games last week. First was a 50-48 win Jan. 5 over visiting Cameron.“Great win against Cameron,” Burch said. “Great team win.
