ES softballers rebound from nail-biting loss with rout of STA

The Tigers showed they could rebound from a walk-off loss last week. After falling 6-4 Sept. 13 at Fort Osage, Excelsior Springs crushed St. Teresa’s Academy 14-4 Sept. 15 at Excelsior Springs. The victory was the Tigers’ first 10-run win this varsity softball season. Excelsior Springs started the scoring against Fort Osage in the top of the third inning, when junior Chloe Carlyle doubled and scored on a single by first-year high schooler Bella Loeffert. Fort Osage scored two runs in the bottom of the third on two hits and an error. The Tigers tied it in the top of the fifth, when Loeffert drove in first-year high schooler Kayden Rogers, who had reached base on a bunt single. Fort Osage reclaimed the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Tigers knotted it at 4 with two runs in the sixth.
