High schoolers hone skills, give back during soccer camp

Maddie Wenz wasn’t off the soccer pitch long.Wenz, who recently finished her sophomore year at Excelsior Springs, participated in a youth and high school soccer camp May 27-29 at Tiger Stadium – less a week after the end of her varsity girls season.“It’s good,” she said. “It feels like we’ve barely even taken a break yet, and that’s a good thing because our season is not for a couple months.”Wenz was among roughly 30 high schoolers who participated in the evening camp, estimated camp director Brett McKenzie, also Wenz’s varsity coach.
