Price takes helm of varsity volleyball program

The Excelsior Springs varsity volleyball program is under new leadership in one way – and under familiar leadership in other ways.

The Tigers’ new leader is head coach Cindy Price, who succeeds Kathryn Partridge. Assisting Price are returning staffers Lanie Hurt and Trinaty Jeffers.

A longtime coach who retired is returning to the program to assist Price – Excelsior Springs High School Athletic Hall of Famer Terri Irons. Irons was inducted in 2022 as a volleyball and softball coach.

Irons, Hurt and Jeffers will help Price guide a program that finished 14-12 overall and 4-2 in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division in 2023. They’ll also help her lead a group that returns only three players who got significant playing time.

“We have a lot of girls that have not played together, so getting on-thefloor chemistry established will be the most important thing for us,” Price said.
