Tigers get shutout victory; suffer double overtime loss
Excelsior Springs broke even last week in varsity boys soccer.After cruising 3-0 past Kearney Sept. 16, the Tigers fell 2-1 in double overtime to North Kansas City Sept. 19.Excelsior Springs got a goal apiece from Austin Collins, Jaxon Hellyer and Kolin Kincaid in its Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division home victory over Kearney. Collins finished a pass from Kincaid in the 20th minute for the opening goal.Hellyer made it 2-0 in the 60th minute by finishing a pass from Brady Schoonover. Kincaid punctuated the win with an unassisted goal in the 74th minute.The Tigers rallied in their overtime road loss to Northtown. The Hornets took a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute.
