Webb’s success brings needed thrills to preseason

For the first time in eons, I find myself thrilled to watch or listen to NFL preseason games. And for the first time in maybe ever, I find myself wanting to watch or listen to Raiders preseason games. There’s one reason why: Sam Webb. Webb, as many readers know, is an Excelsior Springs High School graduate who signed this spring with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent. He’s in training camp, as Dean Berry Jr. reminded me by sending me a screen grab July 24 of Webb covering veteran wide receiver Davante Adams, a fivetime Pro Bowl selection with Green Bay before joining Las Vegas this offseason via a trade. When I finished this, it was Monday night – three days before the Raiders were slated to kick off the preseason against Jacksonville in the Hall of Fame Game.
