Shuffled tennis lineup opens week with win

Excelsior Springs tennis coach Richie Marsh had to do some lineup shuffling when his varsity boys squad faced Carrollton Monday in a home dual. That afternoon, the Tigers were without Bruce Bowen and Carter Clinton, Marsh said.

Excelsior Springs graduate Damon Ashworth nearly finished this men’s wrestling season as a national champion. Ashworth, a redshirt senior at the University of Central Missouri, placed second in the 184-pound division at the NCAA Division II national tournament, held March 13-14 at Sioux Falls, S.D.

McKenzie sees progress in ES girls squad

Excelsior Springs soccer coach Brett McKenzie saw his varsity girls squad take a step forward last week. After dropping their season opener to Mid-Buchanan 2-1 March 24 on the road, the Excelsior Springs girls lost their home and Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division opener to Smithville 3-0.

Varsity baseballers bolt to 7-1 start

Excelsior Springs was nearly unbeatable in its first homestand this season in varsity baseball – a homestand that saw infielder Jaxton Glaspy swat his first high school grand slam. The Tigers finished the homestand 7-1.

ES seeks to continue winning ways in girls soccer

This week, Excelsior Springs was slated to begin pursuing its fourth straight season of finishing .500 or better in varsity girls soccer. The Excelsior Springs girls, who finished 12-9 in 2025, had two games slated for this week – Tuesday on the road against Mid-Buchanan and Thursday against visiting Smithville.
