INDEPENDENCE – On May 9, Ethan Edwards fought through the Missouri heat to qualify for state competition once again. Edwards, who graduated May 13 from Excelsior Springs, qualified for the Class 4 state tournament by placing in a five-way tie for ninth among 58 finishers at the Class 4 District 4 Tournament at Drumm Farm Golf Club.
WARRENSBURG – Two Excelsior Springs golfers made the Missouri River Valley Conference West team as they helped the Tigers place second in the MRVC West Tournament May 2 at Mules National Golf Course.
PLEASANT HILL – When the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division track field championships finished May 6 at Pleasant Hill High School, Excelsior Springs could claim two individual champions.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers seek to get back to winning when postseason play begins next week in varsity girls soccer. Excelsior Springs went 3-4 to close the regular season.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Pleasant Hill and Excelsior Springs had something on the line when they met May 3 at Pleasant Hill in varsity baseball: the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division title. Excelsior Springs was undefeated in MRVC West play.
LAS VEGAS – The Raiders just inked a deal with a former Excelsior Springs standout football player. Sam Webb, a 2016 graduate, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Raiders this weekend after the NFL Draft, held in Las Vegas, home to the Raiders since 2020.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers had a nearly perfect week the last week of April in varsity boys tennis. Excelsior Springs went 3-1 in duals, scoring wins over Odessa and Clinton, both on April 26; and Odessa again on April 28.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers’ offense continued to roar last week in varsity baseball. Excelsior Springs outscored its opponents 23-3 in two home games, getting a 12-2 non-conference win April 25 over Van Horn of Independence and an 11-1 Missouri River Valley Conference West Division win April 28 over Odessa.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The track and field teams logged some bus miles last week. Excelsior Springs competed in two road meets: the Nick Sloop Invitational April 25 at Lawson and the Platte County Invitational April 29 at Platte County.
