Body KEARNEY – Excelsior Springs’ track and field season has begun. The Tigers opened March 26 at Kearney with a triangular that also included Oak Park.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Hope Chappel will be an Eagle in a few months, but she will remain a Tiger at heart. The Excelsior Springs senior has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and golf career at Central Methodist University in Fayette.

Body MEXICO – Excelsior Springs played baseball for the first time since May 2019. Over the weekend, the Tigers visited faced Mexico and Marshfield in an annual triangular to start the season in Mexico.

Body BLUE SPRINGS – The Tigers had to deal with more than a wet, cold and windy day last week when they played in their first boys golf tournament this season.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Varsity track and field coach Jonah Albertson sees potential in his Tigers as they prep for the season. “We have a young team, but I feel we have a promising future that will show by the end of the season,” Albertson said.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – There is a buzz this season about the youthful talent on the Excelsior Springs varsity baseball team. Coach Aaron Holst enters his 21st season leading a crew of athletes with little varsity experience.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs boys tennis team looks to work off some rust after losing the 2020 season to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Missing out on last year will have a great impact on how we start the season,” coach Richie Marsh said.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Like other high school sports programs, the Tigers look to make up for lost time this varsity girls soccer season. “We will have a lot of young players that missed out on an entire year of development,” coach Zac Ganzer said.

Body EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers enter the boys golf season with limited varsity experience but have a young core of golfers eager to learn the game. As the only returning player with varsity experience, junior Ethan Edwards will lead Excelsior Springs’ 13 golfers on the links.

Body INDEPENDENCE – On March 11, four Excelsior Springs boys wrestlers traveled to Cable Dahmer Arena with high expectations. Three of those four came home with medals.
