CCPO continues warrant amnesty program

In an ongoing commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children, the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO) is embarking on the eighth year of its warrant amnesty program. This initiative is specifically designed to offer leniency to individuals who have outstanding warrants for failing to meet their child support obligations.

Missouri offers tax-free weekend

Missouri’s annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday offers a taxfree period for the purchase of school supplies, computers, clothing and other qualifying items as defined by statute. These items will be exempt from both state and local sales tax from 12:01 a.m. on August 2 until midnight August 4. According to the Missouri Department of Revenue, state and local sales tax will not be charged on the following items: Clothing that does not have a taxable value of more than $100 – “Eligible clothing items include any article of apparel intended to be worn on or about the body, including footwear and disposable diapers for infants or adults. Cloth and other materials used to make school uniforms or other school clothing are also included. Not included are watches, watchbands, jewelry, handbags, handkerchiefs, umbrellas, scarves, ties, headbands or belt buckles.”

TRAFFIC ALERT: Lane closures scheduled on MO Route N in Clay County, July 30 - Sept. 6

CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will be conducting pavement resurfacing operations on Missouri Route N between Seybold Road and MO Route 210 starting approximately Tuesday, July 30, until Friday, Sept. 6, between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. resulting in various lane closures. All work is weather permitting. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
