Cultural Guild looking to expand

The Excelsior Springs Cultural Guild is working to expand their reach in an effort to support local artists. The guild has served the community since 1983 hosting fundraisers and community events.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be closing Hwy 10 over the West Fork of Crooked River between Richmond and Wood Heights for a bridge replacement. Work will begin on Monday, July 24 and the project is scheduled to last until the end of November.

ESPD welcomes Officer Chaffee

Picking a new place of work can be a challenge, but the newly sworn-in Excelsior Springs City Police Officer said he chose the city with ease. Officer Trevor Chaffee, a 22-year-old Smithville resident, graduated from the Regional Police Academy of Kansas City in May 2023 and was sworn in by Excelsior Springs City Manager Molly McGovern on July 7.

NHTSA warns of children’s safety

The National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) has reported that more than 940 children have died of heatstroke because they were left or trapped in a hot car over the past 25 years. NHTSA warns of the dangers when children are left unattended in a vehicle during the summer’s elevated temperatures.

Program assists in recovery

Crescent Lake Christian Center started the New Freedom Recovery Program to help those in the community who succumb to addiction. Implemented by Steve Wayman, the program has been in existence for three and a half years.
