City explores crash prevention after second vehicle hits VFW

After a second vehicle crashed into the local VFW hall in less than five months, Excelsior Springs officials are reviewing safety options to prevent future accidents in the same area.The incident, which again involved a vehicle leaving the roadway near South Kansas City Avenue, prompted city leaders and staff to examine the risks posed by speed, road conditions and a lack of barriers on the hill. Both crashes occurred under different circumstances, but each resulted in a car slamming into the same building.The road in question includes a sharp curve at the top of a hill, near an early childhood center.
