City firefighters participate in 9/11 remembrance event

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Police Department had two members involved in this year’s Sept. 11 memorial stair climb at the Town Pavilion in Kansas City: Ryan Dowdy and Samantha Nash. Nash said she climbed to honor the men and women who did not know the last kiss they gave their children would be the last one they would be able to give or the last “I love you” they would say to their families. “So many lives were lost that day. Continuing to honor them is why there are climbs and why I will continue to participate in them,” she said. The 110-story climb took place in remembrance of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives Sept. 11, 2001, Kansas City Stair Climb information states. “The overall cause is to raise money for fallen firefighters and remember the fallen,” climb information states.
