‘Cool’ flower sculpture on display at city park

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – An ecoconscious sculpture has been installed at Century Park, Mayor Sharon Powell told city leaders during a March 18 work session at the Hall of Waters. A large depiction of a flower, the piece is crafted “completely of recycled playground equipment,” Powell said.

Board of education planning ‘biggest ... best summer school’

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The summer learning plan will have three objectives this year, Career Center Director Mark Bullimore told district leaders March 14 at the Support Services Center. “(We will) have the biggest and best summer school we’ve ever had, we’re going to have the most fun we’ve ever had and we want to create … repeatable programming,” Bullimore said in presenting the plan shortly before approval by the Board of Education.

City’s search for new planner begins

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city seeks a new planner, Economic Development Director Melinda Mehaffy told city leaders during a March 18 work session at the Hall of Waters. The last planner left March 9 to work in the private sector, Mehaffy said.

Clay, Ray could share 21st District

WARRENSBURG – The proposed 21st Senatorial District map would make dramatic changes to the present district represented by Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg. Changes include that, for the next two years, Hoskins would not live in the district where he serves.
THIS MAP of the proposed 21st Senatorial District takes in the top half of Clay County, including Excelsior Springs, plus all of Ray, Lafayette, Carroll, Howard and Cooper counties. Sen. City OKs FD concrete replacement
