EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city approved Superior Bowen Asphalt Co. LLC to do additional road work. On June 21, the City Council approved the Kansas City-based company’s $728,142 bid to work on North Jesse James Road. Anticipated Community Development Block Grant program and U.S. Economic Development Administration funds are designated to cover construction costs, along with $100,000 in capital improvement funding, Public Works Director Chad Birdsong stated in a June 15 memo to city leaders. Birdsong told city leaders some of the work is “in coordination with Danny Miller,” referring to the extension of North Jesse James into a cul-de-sac to link with Danny Miller Cabinets, which is undergoing renovations.
