ESSD’s summer enrichment program aids 1,100 students
The Excelsior Springs School District’s summer school program wraps up soon, and school officials are pleased with the results.
“Summer school has been a huge success. We have successfully developed our largest summer learning program and curriculum ever,” said Mark Bullimore, district director of communications.
This year’s summer school program had 1,100 K-12 students enrolled, including 458 elementary students, 283 middle school students and 430 high school students.
By comparison, 2021’s enrollment was approximately 200 K-8 students and 150 high school students, Bullimore said.
With the previous two years having focused primarily on high-need areas of student retention/promotion and filling critical learning gaps, this year returned to a “fullblown summer learning program,” Bullimore said.
