The Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation and Community Center will host events for youth and families in July to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month. Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation and Community Center’s Youth and Family Coordinator Kyria Hood explained that in 1985 Parks and Recreation Month was nationally recognized through the National Recreation and Parks Association. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate all of the wonderful staff members who contribute to keeping parks beautiful and allowing the community to participate in recreational sports and activities,” she said. During July, anyone in the community and surrounding areas participating in the offered events will be granted an activity passport at the Excelsior Springs Community Center.
