For Aaron Holst, getting his 300th win as the Excelsior Springs varsity baseball coach with a 13-5 thumping of Raytown April 28 was a reflection of how he has spent part of his adult life. “I think it’s mainly a sign that I’ve been doing this a long time,” Holst said minutes after achieving the milestone at Tiger Stadium. “It’s a longevity thing. … It’s just a proud thing for me that all of them have been right here at Excelsior Springs, and I love this place.” Holst also saw the milestone as a reflection of the players who’ve been in the program – a program that has posted four 20-win seasons since 2018, when the Tigers placed third in the state in Class 4. “I’ve been blessed with good players,” he said.
