Wine Festival show cases Missouris best
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Wine lovers got to sample more than 85 wines offered by 20 of Missouri’s wineries, and beer lovers got to taste some beers from craft breweries, June 11 during the 16th Annual Wine Fest along Lover’s Lane.
Sylvia Hernandez, an Excelsior Springs resident for 16-plus years, was among those who took in the festivities.
“I like it,” said Hernandez, who walked around the area with her two daughters. “I really like it. ... We’re having a lot of fun.”
Musicians provided accompaniment to Hernandez and others who walked around, sipped and/or sampled the wares of food trucks and vendors. Patrick Recob played from 3 to 5 p.m. Brigett and Her Bandoliers played from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The participating wineries and breweries included Atlas Saloon Brewery, DeLaney Vineyard & Winery, Dubious Claims Brewing Co., Fence Stile Vineyards & Winery, Four Horses & a Dog Vineyard & Winery, Giggling Grapes Winery, Golden Rock Winery, Grindstone Valley Winery and Les Bourgeois Vineyards on The Blufftop at Rocheport.
Rounding out the list were Lindwedel Winery, Luna Umbra Winery, Meramec Vineyards & Winery, Pennington Wines, Public House Brewery, Red Fox Winery, St. James Winery, Top Hat Winery, Van Till Family Farm Winery and Weston Wine Co.
Beautiful Day Farms, Country Road Cupboard, Coral Coconut KC, Endgrain Heirlooms, Fifth Street Boutique, Get Drizzled Wine Drizzle, Glass Girls Kansas, JMAC Creations and Just Good Food were among the vendors.
Still other vendors were KC Fooditude, La Te Da Beads, Leo & Kay Boutique, Muffin Top Bakery, Simply Savory Gourmet Blends, The Silver Craze, Tip Top Kettle Corn, Veil and Vow Tarot and WoodPile Mama Designs.
“In our opinion, this has been the best attended and best repped wine festival,” said Stephen Stubbs, co-owner of Four Horses & a Dog Winery. “Profits are way better. This is great.”
