An Independence woman accused of driving drunk and crashing near Excelsior Springs with a child in the car has been sentenced after the state dismissed a felony child endangerment charge.

Ashlyn M. Slusher, 32, recently pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving while intoxicated before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Louis Angles. The court suspended imposition of sentence and placed Slusher on two years of supervised probation through Northland Diversion Services.

As part of the disposition, the state dismissed Slusher’s felony charge of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Slusher was also ordered to serve 10 days of shock time with credit for time served.

Slusher has been ordered to complete 40 hours of community service, any counseling directed by her probation officer, the Substance Awareness Traffic Offender Program and a Victim Impact Panel.
