Betty (DeWeese) Swick , 92, a longtime Excelsior Springs resident, passed away November 26, 2021 at Kansas City Hospice House. 

Betty was born April 21, 1929 in Delta, Iowa, was one of 3 children of Sam and Fern (Feaster) DeWeese. 

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Swick, her brother Warren DeWeese, sister Wilda Hadley and grandson Adam Popejoy. 

Betty retired from the Excelsior Springs School District as a cook in the school cafeteria.  

Survivors include her beloved children, Janice Popejoy, Judy Stroder and Ward Popejoy; grandchildren Shelly Leiker, Angela Andrews, Brian McCart, Joshua Popejoy, Chad McCart and eight great grandchildren.

Due to a Covid outbreak at her assisted living home, the Celebration of Life will be postponed to a later date so friends may attend. 


In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Mercy for residents with financial hardships or to Kansas City Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital.
