Lawrence (Larry) Eugene Greim, Excelsior Springs, died peacefully on June 2, 2022.  

Larry was born in Excelsior Springs, MO on Dec. 24, 1941. He graduated from ESHS in 1960 and was an accomplished Tigers basketball player. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 1965 and began his 53-year career by working at his father’s downtown drug store. He eventually owned Brown’s Prescription Drugs in Excelsior. Like his father, Larry also earned the prestigious 50-year pharmacy plaque during his distinguished career. 

He was fiercely proud of his hometown and was active in the community. Among other endeavors, he was a leader of Boy Scout troop 309; was a three-time president of the local chapter of the Kiwanis Club; tutor at the Good Samaritan Center; was active with the Excelsior Springs Educational Foundation; co-chair of the committee to pass the 2000 school bond issue; Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.  

  Larry was very proud to be a Greim. He loved his family dearly and loved being “Tata” to his grandchildren. He was a devoted Catholic and a fixture at St. Ann’s Church in Excelsior. He was an avid golfer and cherished his rounds with his friends at Excelsior Golf Club. He loved cheering on his Jayhawks, Royals, and Chiefs.  

Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cheryl Walsh; two sons, Kevin and Robert; daughters-in-law Sarah and Jill; grandchildren, Charlie Kay (17), Bridger Rollins (12), Tegan Marie (13), and Miles Douglas (11); and one brother, Bill Greim.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Helen Greim; and his brothers, Rex and Don.  

Funeral services will be held June 16, 2022, at 1 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs with a celebration of life to follow at 3 p.m. at the Excelsior Springs Golf Club.
