Somewhere along Highway 10, a horse named Olivia and a donkey named Newton are living perfectly normal lives, completely unaware that they have become celebrities to one little girl.

At least, that is what my daughter says their names are.

The truth is nobody knows whether those are their names. Nobody knows if they are male or female, young or old. None of that really matters because, to my daughter, they will always be Olivia and Newton.

Several years ago, she spotted a horse and a donkey grazing in a pasture along a stretch of Highway 10 we traveled regularly. As many children do, she quickly decided they needed names. The challenge was she wanted each animal to have a name that somehow included multiple people and ideas she loved, which quickly became more complicated than naming a couple of farm animals should have been.
