HIGGINSVILLE – The Tigers’ first win of this varsity boys basketball season came sooner than it did last season. And the 2019-2020 season. And the 2018-2019 season, when there was no first win. And the 2017-2018 season. Excelsior Springs improved to 1-3 with Tuesday’s 59-54 win over Cameron at Lafayette County of Higginsville in pool play of the Husker Classic. The loss ended a seven-game losing skid dating back to Feb. 3, when the Tigers won 63-45 at North Platte for their only victory of the 2020-2021 season. The Tigers then dropped their last four games and dropped their first three this season. The Tigers opened 2021-2022 with back-to-back home losses, falling to Lexington 46-33 Nov. 29 and Cameron 52-39 Nov. 30. They then opened the Husker Classic Monday with a 65-45 loss to Odessa.
