Cyclones blow away competition in season-ending tourney

Over the weekend, the ES Cyclones did something many sports teams don’t get to do – finish the season with a win. The Cyclones finished by winning the title game for the 16-and-under A Division Sunday night at the Heartland World Series. Their 6-5 victory over the KC Zephyrs capped a 6-0-1 run in the 14team competition, held in the metro area. The Cyclones averaged eight runs scored per game en route to the championship. “This weekend of softball was the best overall team effort we have had all year,” coach Chris Schreier said. “We had multiple girls having big games on offense, with Jose ( Casler) and Willa ( Schreier) each hitting home runs; and our pitching staff of Keira ( Romazon), Kayden ( Rogers) and Autumn ( Bridges) were on lockdown all weekend.” The girls opened by going 2-0-1 in pool play.
