Excelsior Springs coach Jake Danneman liked what he saw from his Tigers during their 41-22 season-opening loss to Belton in varsity 11-man football – at least on offense.“Offensively, we did great Friday night,” Danneman said Monday. “We’ve got to clean a few things up with penalties and a little bit of hustle stuff – getting to the line of scrimmage, getting the ball snapped and understanding our concepts a little bit faster. Friday nights, things happen a little bit faster; and I think some of our kids – obviously, the ones making their first start Friday night – they had an issue with that, kind of starting off a little slower. We’ve got to be able to go full speed and the speed that we want to right from the first whistle.”The Tigers executed well enough on offense to amass 349 total yards during the Aug. 29 road meeting – 204 rushing, 145 passing.
