ES softballer signs letter of intent with Missouri S&T
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – It appears senior Mayce Barber will have some more softball games to pitch after she graduates from Excelsior Springs High School.
Barber has signed a national letter of intent to continue her education and softball career at Missouri University of Science & Technology in Rolla. Missouri S&T is an NCAA Division II school, affiliated with the Great Lakes Valley Conference, whose other members include William Jewell College in Liberty. The school’s softball program is led by Missouri S&T alum and seventhyear coach Cathy Monroe.
Barber finished her high school career with an overall record of 35-36, a 3.50 earned run average and 310 strikeouts. Offensively, she batted .363, with 81 RBIs, 45 runs scored and eight home runs.
With Barber as their ace, the Tigers were 7-12 and reached the Class 4 District 8 Tournament semis this season.
Barber has played softball since age 5, traveling around the country throughout the spring, summer and fall.
