ES varsity baseballers go 1-4 in packed slate of games
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The black and gold had a full slate of baseball games last week.
During the week, the ballclub made three road trips, playing March 30 at Harrisonville, March 31 at Benton of St. Joseph and April 1 at Warrensburg before hosting Smithville April 3 in a home-opening doubleheader, with Excelsior Springs going 1-4.
Excelsior Springs got hurt by a big inning in its 7-3 Missouri River Valley Conference West Division-opening loss to Harrisonville. Sophomore Broc Dusek scored in the first after reaching on an error by the third baseman and was then driven in by senior Jalen Soria. But then, the Wildcats took control by jumping on sophomore starting pitcher Mason Danner for five runs on four hits in the second inning.
