ES boys sixth, girls eighth at Kearney meet

The Tigers racked up the top-eight finishes when they competed April 6 at the Kearney Classic Invitational. The Excelsior Springs boys finished with 11 top-eight finishes in tallying 54.5 points – sixth among 10 schools. The girls, who took eighth with 22.5 points, produced seven. Seniors Gavin Williams and Braxton Moffett were the top boys finishers, placing second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and pole vault, respectively. Wilmes ran a time of 43.14 seconds and Moffett cleared 3.66 meters. Wilmes also claimed third in the 110 high hurdles in 16.05. Other third-place boys finishers included senior Rakai Gantt. Gantt claimed his spot in the 400 meter run, finishing in 51:48. “We had some impressive performances from Rakai and Gavin,” coach Jonah Albertson said.
