Hedding finishes 44th at Cross Country finale
Liam Hedding cracked the top 50 in his final cross country meet this season.The Excelsior Springs junior finished 44th at Class 4 District 4 competition, held Nov. 2 at Jesse James Park in Kearney. Hedding ran the 3.1-mile boys race in 18 minutes, 55.02 seconds.Hedding’s time was 1:54 shy of securing the final spot for the Class 4 state meet, slated for Saturday at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia. Per Missouri State High School Activities Association regulations, the top four teams and top 30 finishers from districts qualified for state, including finishers on teams that qualified.In other Excelsior Springs boys results, first-year high schooler Lane Collins placed 54th in a season-best 19:31.83 and junior Conrad Purnell finished 68th in a season-best 20:49.63....
