Liam Hedding nearly cracked the top 10 at the XC Open Kickoff Twilight Glow Meet.The Excelsior Springs junior placed 12th at the Sept. 3 cross country meet at Grain Valley, finishing the 2.1-mile boys race in 11 minutes, 51 seconds to help the Tigers place third in the team standings with 87 points.Hedding was among three Excelsior Springs boys to place in the top 20. Seniors Mac Morris and Silas O’Dellfinished 14th in 11:52 and 19th in 12:21, respectively.In other boys results, William Tade placed 38th in 14:03, Conrad Purnell came in 41st in 14:08, Ian Overfield finished 49th in 14:37 and Henry Lockwoodwas 69th in 21:30.Kirsten Stout and Luna Bigham represented Excelsior Springs in the girls race, also 2.1 miles.
