Rogers, Kincaid place in top three
Kinley Rogers went 3-for-3 at Class 4 state high school track and field competition.
Rogers, who recently finished her junior year at Excelsior Springs, placed in the top six in three events at the May 30-31 meet in Jefferson City. Because of those finishes, she received three medals and three all-state honors.
Rogers took second in the discus, and sixth in both the javelin and shot put. She secured her runner-up finish in the discus by throwing 40.56 meters – a junior class school record and 0.09 meter short of the state championship throw by Washington’s Alyssa Repke.
In addition, Rogers reclaimed her school record with her sixth-place javelin throw of 40.16. Moreover, she set a school record with her sixth-place shot put throw of 12.12.
Rogers was one of two girls to represent Excelsior Springs. Reese Ryan competed as well, finishing 13th in the long jump.
