Williams receives Player of the Week honor
An Excelsior Springs High School alumna is drawing attention for her softball skills in junior college.Daelyn Williams, who graduated in 2023, was named National Junior College Athletic Association Region 16 Player of the Week recently for her contributions to Metropolitan Community College (MCC)-Kansas City’s opening week. Per a late-February MCC-Kansas City Instagram post, the sophomore drew the recognition for batting .500, with four RBIs and two runs scored – one of them on a home run.Williams went 5-for-10 offensively the opening week, helping the Wolves split a Feb. 23 doubleheader with Highland (Kan.) Community College at City of Fountains Field. Playing catcher, she went 3-for-5, with three RBIs and a run scored, to help the Wolves edge the Scotties 1613 in the first game.
