Body Excelsior Springs varsity coach Jonah Albertson and his Tigers will look to keep their track and field season going Saturday. The Tigers will compete that day at the Class 4 District 8 meet in Kansas City, hosted by Staley High School.

Body Austin Collins is ending his high school tennis career at a state tournament. As The Standard reported May 9, Collins qualified for the Class 1 state singles tournament.

Body Excelsior Springs has won and lost primarily by shutouts lately in varsity girls soccer. Entering Tuesday’s meeting with visiting Grandview, five of the girls’ last six games had ended in shutouts.

Body Orrick pulled off a haul in the boys portion of the Class 1 District 7 track and field meet. The Bearcats won four individual events.

Body would‘ve like a better ending to this season. The Bearcats’ campaign ended May 9 with the Class 1 District 4 Tournament at Chillicothe.

Body Excelsior Springs is sending three boys golfers to state competition. Landon Biermann and Tayvion Kennedy, who’ll graduate Friday; and sophomore Lane Overholtzer are slated to compete in the Class 3 state tournament May 19-20 at Twin Hill Golf Course in Joplin.

Body Marques Shouse outran the competition at the Nick Sloop Invitational. Shouse, a first-year high schooler at Excelsior Springs, won the boys 100-meter dash at the April 28 track and field meet at Lawson, finishing in 12.03 seconds.

Body is racking up the wins as her high school track and field career concludes. Fletcher, who graduates this month from Orrick, pulled off a hat trick at I-70 Conference competition May 3 in Higginsville, hosted by Sweet Springs.
