The Excelsior Springs School District “had a clean audit” of the 2022 fiscal year (FY), auditor Brad Steele told district leaders when the Board of Education convened recently. Speaking on behalf of the Richmond-based accounting firm Westbrook & Co.

State Rep. Doug Richey wants to help lower the bill for Missourians with delinquent property taxes. In pursuit of that goal, the Excelsior Springsbased lawmaker has filed House bill 462, legislation to reduce the amount of late charges and interest that can be collected on overdue property taxes.

Recreational marijuana users who frequent the Kansas City Cannabis dispensary in Excelsior Springs, or any future dispensaries in town, may soon have to pay a city sales tax. The Excelsior Springs City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday night — which would be placed on the ballot for voter approval —to enact a 3-percent sales tax “on all tangible personal property retail sales of adult use non-medical marijuana” purchased in town.

The Excelsior Springs City Council approved the creation of Westside Community Improvement District (CID) during its Tuesday meeting. Community residents and westside district property owners were in the audience to show support.
