Community center assists elderly with COVID-19 vaccine signups

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Community Center is reaching out to help elderly residents sign up on the Clay County Public Health Center website for COVID-19 vaccinations. Center Executive Director Jesse Hall told city leaders during a late-January City Council work session on Zoom that the center had contacted and provided over-the-phone assistance to “those that are on hold that are 70 and over.” In addition, the center had provided in-person assistance, using social distancing, Hall said.

KANSAS CITY – The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate jumped 1.3% from November to December, going to 5.8%, the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center reported. The estimated number of unemployed Missourians hit 180,137 in December.
