Leonard Eugene (Abner) Easley, 85, passed away on September 30, 2021 at his home in Lawson, MO, after a three year battle with cancer. He was born December 5, 1935 to Leonard Morton and Livie Alpha (Waters) Easley in Excelsior Springs, MO. He was the youngest of seven children. He was a 1954 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School where he was a member of the football and field and track teams. He held the school record for the discus throw for 30 years. His record was finally broken by an athlete who came to him for pointers.

Paul Joseph Shaffer was born Nov. 16, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Eugene and Eva Maesch Shaffer. He had two brothers and three sisters. He has one surviving sister, Mary Cheek of Nashville IN.

March 21, 1929 ~ September 18, 2021 

Vonna Lee Davis, 92 years, of Excelsior Springs, left this world Saturday afternoon September 18, 2021, to be with her savior.

She was born on Monday April 22, 1929 in Lakin, Kansas the daughter of the late Ora and Edna (Moser) Grubbs. She married Roy Cederberg. Roy passed away in 1977, she then met Lowell Davis who was devout Christian in 1978, they were married for 40 years.

Douglas E Roberts age 79 years of Excelsior Springs passed away in the early morning hours of September 12th, 2021, in the comfort of his home from natural causes. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior Springs, Missouri with a funeral to follow. The burial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. September 22, 2021, at Higginsville Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville Missouri. 

Alice May Gantt, 91, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri passed away September 10, 2021. Alice was born on January 25, 1930, to parents Jesse Dodd and Beulah Stewart in Liberty, Missouri. She attended Garrison School in Liberty, Missouri. She worked at Von Cleaners, as well as the family cleaners in Liberty.  

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Beatrice Dodd, and her brother, Reverend Jesse Earl Dodd Jr. 

Susanne Lewellen, 66, of Excelsior Springs Missouri passed away September 4th, 2021, at her home. 

Susanne was born October 17, 1954, in Wyandotte County, KS to Willis and Evelyn Barb (Williams). She was a 1972 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School and was employed by JC Penney in Excelsior Springs for many years. 

Susanne was united in marriage to Danny Lewellen on April 15, 2000. She was previously married to Thomas Young from 1972 until 1999. 

Donald Ray Smith was born along with his twin sister, Dorothy, on February 15, 1924, to Effie and Harry Smith in Elmira, Missouri in a “cold coal” shack. Later Don grew up in Excelsior Springs, Missouri with his 2 brothers and 3 sisters at 610 Isley. Just this week he said he wanted to see his Mother and Father at the house on Isley. 

Raymond Eugene Sickles Jr. (aka) Toby Sickles, age 71 resident of Independence, Missouri, died September 10th, 2021 at 8:57 pm at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Missouri.  

A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Tryst Falls Park, Shelter 12, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024 

Judith Leora Simpson, 56, passed on Sept. 9, 2021. She was born to Richard Jenkins and Lois (Hall) Jenkins in Bryson City, NC on April 4, 1965.
